- Description and specifications
Finger heaters (FHs) have been widely used in the past for pre- and post welding heat treatment when using high-power welding transformers operating on direct or alternating current. They require minimal service and are able to withstand careless handling.
Heaters consist of two 3.6 mm hard nichrome wires, threaded through aluminum oxide beads, providing electrical insulation combined with high thermal conductivity. Standard finger heater is designed for a current of 120A and a maximum temperature of 1050°C. Heat treatment of stainless steel requires a special high-temperature wire to reach maximum temperature of 1150°C. Steel connecting blocks are used as pins.
It is possible to manufacture these high-power heaters with three wires.
